Jon Stewart and Guests

We’ve been watching the Daily Show because there’s not a lot else on. That’s not to say I don’t love the Daily Show, but it’s not like 24 or the last episode of Buffy, which truly qualifies as “must see”. Recently Jon Stewart has had some interesting guests. Of note was Harrison Ford, who was definitely a surprise, and did not look at all comfortable (damn agent!). Jon Stewart initially joked that his show was “beneath him (Ford)” and Indy seemed to not take it quite as a joke. That said, Harrison Ford was surprisingly down to earth and had a speech rhythm very similar to my dad. It was one of those rare episodes where the guest is not a complete throw-away.

An even more interesting guest was Lewis Lapham, the editor of Harper’s magazine. This guy had no qualms about speaking his mind about the current administration, and thank god! He was incredibly well spoken, which made his opinions that much more refreshing to hear. I really hope this man considers a career in politics for the good of the nation; we seriously need someone with a conscience right about now.

I finally found a 160MB hi-res copy of the infamous “Bush vs. Bush” mock debate floating around, in which Governor Bush squares off against President Bush on several issues. If you haven’t seen it, you should. As someone else said, it would be funnier if it weren’t so scary.
