If You Have a Digital Point and Shoot, Read This Article

DPReview published a great article explaining something I’ve tried to explain to people many times: why point and shoot digital cameras tend to have subpar low-light performance.  They show samples from quite a few cameras ranging from great to awful.  Nothing I didn’t already know (I bought my Fuji F10 and F30 for this reason), but useful to see it explained clearly and in detail.

  1. I had already read the article and I am glad that you have backed the article as well. My camerashop has continually told me about pixel packing. As a result I now have a pentax K100D. Was great until I cleaned the sensor. Now I have round spots everywhere. I also still love my Fuji 9500.
